Caldecott Medal winner Steve Jenkins explores the world’s largest, slowest, and longest-lived creatures in this informational picture book that proves science can be a whole lot of fun. What is the biggest land animal? What animal runs the fastest? Can elephants really eat more than 300 pounds of grass each day? Dive into this fascinating book that introduces fourteen members of the animal kingdom who hold “world records” for their astonishing traits. Young readers will find easy-to-understand comparisons, helpful charts, and a guide to where these amazing animals can be found in the wild. Made with his award-winning cut-page collage illustrations, this educational and entertaining book from Steve Jenkins brings the fascinating facts about our natural world alive. Review: Great informational text for young readers or struggling older readers - I am tutoring a little boy via Zoom and we learned suffixes (-er and -est), so this was the PERFECT read to practice endings and learn about animals. I LOVE Steve Jenkins's books. Plus it is great to have a digital version so we can read together while I share my screen. I also love, "Actual Size." Review: Very interesting - I got this for my grandson and found that I enjoyed it as much as he did. It has some really interesting facts and the artwork is beautiful.

Great book!
My 5 year old grandson and I love books. And Steve Jenkins is one of our favorites! There is more than one level to this book. You can just read the basic information. For more in depth, you can read the little tidbits on the page. We have learned so much from these books.

Cool facts
The book is great for little ones. Love the size image comparison to humans for each animal. My only issues is that the book focused only on animals and mostly mammals. I would have liked for the book to have included the smallest living thing (bacteria) and the oldest living thing (bristle cone pines) and the tallest living things (sequoias). I just think kids need to know there are living things beyond animals.

great
Great for kids from 4 years up. We explore the animals' world looking for the fastest of them, the bigggest , the smallest etc. On each page there is a man drawn by the animal so the kids could comper the sizes and imagine easily the difference. My boys students 5-6 years old were really excited when reading it.
