All aboard for Dreamland! Hold on to your pillow because the Goodnight Train is taking off. Roll that corner, rock that curve, and soar past mermaids, leaping sheep, and even ice-cream clouds. You won't want to miss a thing, so whatever you do, don't . . . close . . . your . . . eyes! With soothing, lyrical words and magical illustrations, June Sobel and Laura Huliska-Beith have created a nighttime fantasy that's guaranteed to make even the most resistant sleeper snuggle up tight. Review: The perfect bedtime book! - I bought this when my son was 2 years old and it has been a favorite ever since (he is now almost 3.5). I love the flow and rhyming of the story - and the illustrations are delightfully creative and very fun and interesting to look at. The ONLY nit I have (and it's a small one) is that I wish the train used something other than coal (which is actually shown as cookies in the artwork). Otherwise, I think this is THE perfect bedtime book. My son asks me to read this every night and I never grow tired of doing so. PS: I would recommend getting the board book version - our regular version has tape on nearly every page, where I had to fix small rips. Because the book is in horizontal format (which is nice, it lays open better than a horizontal book), overenthusiastic tots can easily rip the bottom of the wide pages by turning them too quickly. I was going to order a second copy in the board book version, but then thought the taped up pages kind of had a warm, worn-in feel to them (showing how much my son loves to read this book), so I just kept the original format :). Review: Geart story, Great rhyming, and Great Illustrations! - Great Book! We love board books because they hold up well. This story is great, and our little one memorized it quickly! The illustrations are great and make for good conversation while reading. We have enjoyed it so much that we just purchased another as part of a shower gift.

One of our bedtime favorites
The toddler loves this story and so do I. A great book to offer as an option, especially at bedtime. Even though it's a children's book, it's fun to read. The book has a pretty nice cadence which starts fast and slows. Love that wind down! There's lots of things in the pictures and my toddler loves pointing them out and I'm happy he's enjoying books.

Easy to Read Bedtime Board Book
My 18 month old daughter really adores this book. She calls it the "Choo Choo" book and already starts requesting it as soon as we are drying off post bath. The illustrations are beautiful and the story rhymes well. It has an easy-to-read cadence about it, and I think the best parts (both her favorite, and mine!) are the sound effects: "clickety-clack", "huff-a-puff-a! choo! choo!", "Rock-a rock-a shhhh! shhhh!", "Scrub-a-dub toot toot!". The reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because there is one page, right in the middle of the book, that does not have any story lines on it to read. This really bothers me! Like I said, the book is very rhythmic and easy to read. This page messes up my flow. It's an illustration that does have 2 signs on it, but the signs don't contribute to the story, nor do they rhyme or flow along with the cadence of the rest of the book. I wish they skipped this blank page. It's pointless and annoying!

My son loves reading "choo choo".
I can't tell you enough how much we love this book. When it's time for bed and I'm talking to my 2 year old about our bedtime routine he gets really excited about "choo choo" book. This book helps ease the transition to bedtime. It has wonderful pictures that we all enjoy (myself and my 11 year old daughter as well). When you look closely at the pictures there's so many fun little things added in. Like the squirrel eating out of the fridge in a tree, the mermaid putting on night cream, the sheep taking wool of another sheep to knit a blanket. It took me a few weeks or reading it nightly to really pay attention to what's in the pictures. Now we have fun pointing out the goofy things. The words are catchy and fun to read. The story is a sing songy rhyme that flows easily and is very catchy. It's not too short nor too long. Definitely a keeper. This will be a great go-to birthday gift for 1-3 year olds.

Unfassbar!
